Why Women Who Don’t Wear Makeup May Be Feeling Uncomfortable

Women who don’t wear makeup are viewed with some contemptuousness in today’s world. One frequent comment is that women who don’t wear makeup, look cheap and desperate. In other words, if they can’t get a job, it’s because they don’t have makeup on.

There’s an undertone that says, “Why should I have to wear makeup if I don’t have to try to impress anyone?”

There are exceptions, of course. A certain amount of makeup is necessary for health reasons; most women need to wear sunscreen every day to prevent sunburns and other serious damage to their skin. Then there are jobs that require the use of makeup. But in general, a woman’s makeup should be very simple, like your lipstick, eye shadow, blush, and so on. Nothing fancy, no artistry, just enough to enhance natural beauty. Anything else is flaunting a lack of taste.

As women who don’t wear makeup to become more educated about cosmetics and realize how important it is to look your best, they will begin to reconsider their status. They will come to realize that they don’t need to spend an arm and a leg to look beautiful. Yes, they may have to invest in a few products, but the effort is well worth it.

One of the downfalls of women who don’t wear makeup is that they tend to take the appearance of beauty for granted. Many women have grown up believing that makeup is a mere superficial extra that they can dismiss without concern. If they had spent a little bit of money in the earlier years on cosmetics, then they would probably have felt better about themselves. But in these economic times, it is simply not worth the time or the money. If you don’t want to look like a clown, don’t buy makeup.

Another common problem that women who don’t wear makeup run into is that they make assumptions about women who do wear makeup. The assumption is that those who don’t wear makeup are somehow less attractive than those who wear it. This can be a very harmful myth, as there are plenty of gorgeous women who don’t need to put on makeup. In fact, many of them have amazing careers, love their husbands and families, and are happy and successful without having to wear makeup of any kind.

One way to combat this myth is to re-assure friends and family that you are no longer in need of makeup, that you are happy and fulfilled without it, and that you would not change your life for makeup. Even if they don’t agree, at least they will be honest with themselves. And when you are confident that your friends and family understand what it means to you, women who don’t wear makeup can begin to feel better about themselves. It’s important to make sure that they know that you are not hiding yourself from them.
